Statistically speaking, I shouldn’t be alive today…
But I survived to see another day and inspire others with my story.

A STORY THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Theo is the only person known to have survived a catastrophic workplace electrical incident. Burnt, broken and given less than a 1% chance of living, he defied every odds.
What followed was a fight to rebuild his body, his mind and his life – and a decision to use his experience to help others make safer choices, take personal responsibility seriously and understand how quickly “just another day” can change everything.
THE SIGNATURE KEYNOTE
Theo Venter’s signature keynote presentation, Just Another Day, is a raw, powerful and deeply personal account of the workplace electrical incident that sent 22,000 volts and 1,200 amps through his body and changed his life forever.
BUT THIS ISN’T SIMPLY A SURVIVAL STORY.
Through honesty, humour and hard-earned perspective, Theo takes audiences beyond the incident to explore the everyday choices, instincts and moments of personal accountability that shape whether people make it home safely.
The result is a keynote that doesn’t simply tell people to work safely. It gives them a reason to.
THE OBJECT THAT BECAME A MESSAGE
What started as a simple 12mm nut has grown into something far bigger than Theo could have ever imagined. There are now well over 100,000 of these nuts on keyrings around the world.
Entire industries have engraved messages on them, created special keyrings and added tags to carry the message further. But what matters most to Theo are the hundreds of photos and messages people send him. A nut on a desk. Hanging around a truck mirror. Attached to car keys. Moments when someone had to make a tough call and that small piece of metal reminded them of their “why”.
.
In a few months, you won’t remember my name. You won’t remember exactly what I said. But you’ll never forget how you felt and that little 12-millimetre nut becomes a physical reminder of that feeling.
This isn’t about a nut anymore. It’s about remembering your why when it matters most, and making the decision that gets you home to the people and the life that matters most.
the nut becomes a teaching tool
The simple nut becomes a permanent reminder that the smallest choices can have life-changing consequences. It’s an effective way to give your audience something to hold onto long after Theo is gone. Each side represents a key lesson that helps people make safer choices every day.
THE CIRCLE INSIDE REPRESENTS
The perfect circle to symbolise your perfect day, locked in by the 5 threads representing 5 seconds of bravery.
WORKPLACE SAFETY THAT HITS DIFFERENTLY
Theo brings workplace safety out of the handbook and into the real world.
Through raw storytelling and practical lessons, he challenges people to think differently about personal accountability, trusting their instincts, taking time to pause and understanding their “why”.
The result is a safety message people don’t simply hear – they feel, remember and take back to work with them.

Move beyond simply following safety systems and create genuine buy-in.
Through a full-day workshop built around Theo’s six foundations, teams establish shared values, reconnect with their personal “why” and build greater ownership of the safety systems already in place.
